It is our great pleasure to invite you to CURRENT PERSPECTIVES IN INTERVENTIONAL PULMONOLOGY, CPIP 2026, With rapid developments in interventional pulmonology (IP), indiscriminate use of technology is becoming a threat. Rather than remaining tools in our repertoire, we risk becoming subservient to the spectacle of technology. While it is necessary to zealously and relentlessly infuse this field with new technology, it is crucial to take a step back and analyse the evidence supporting each IP procedure. This concern lies behind the genesis of

CPIP: Current Perspectives in Interventional Pulmonology

CPIP is a joint initiative by PGIMER, Chandigarh and AIIMS, New Delhi through which we seek to provide annual updates on the hottest topics in IP by experts in the field. We endeavour to create a platform for the very best in this field to share knowledge on the appropriate use of IP techniques. We aim to promote the expansion of IP services in the country while preventing indiscriminate use of technology by disseminating the correct knowledge about its benefits and drawbacks. This annual update will be held at AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh in alternate years. The first update held at AIIMS, New Delhi in January 2025 was a resounding success. Scientific content and analytical thinking ruled the roost. The central focus of each session was a disease entity rather than a procedure. After a short introduction to the relevant procedures, questions addressing current controversies in the field were posed to the speakers. In CPIP, the speaker's talk is only a starting point of a threadbare discussion that aims to answer the most relevant questions as per available evidence and expertise.
